Frequently Asked Questions for New and Returning Students

**We have done our best to put as much information as we can to help you to prepare for the 2020 Fall semester, please note that much of what the school year will look like has not been finalized, so some if not all of this information may change throughout the summer. We will continue to update and change information as things become more clear for the fall**

What will school look like next year given COVID? 

We don’t have a complete picture yet of what JFK and the rest of BPS will look like in the fall. BPS is actively working on a plan that will have the best interests of our students in mind. We will keep you updated as we know more. You can get updates from (is there a place to find updates??) BPS is looking for feedback from parents. When will we find out our teacher assignments?

Teacher assignments will be sent out by e-mail mid August.

Will there be a new student welcome orientation for K0,K1,K2?

Yes, it will be held via Zoom. Info on Monday, August 17th, 2020. Information to follow

Will there be a welcome bbq in August?

Unfortunately, there will not be a welcome BBQ this year.

My child left items at school last year, how do I get them back?

Students can pick up items in late August. 

My child still has a chromebook do I need to return it over the summer?

If you are staying at JFK or within the BPS district you do not need to return your Chromebook. If you are leaving the district for next year you will need to return your Chromebook to the Campbell Resource Center located at  1216 Dorchester Ave Dorchester, MA 02125  to do this.

I want to sign up for summer school. Is it too late?

Where do I pick up my child after school?

K0, K1, K2 can be picked up at the playground

All other grades are picked up on the black top or in the gym during inclement weather

What is the uniform policy?

At the JFK, students are strongly encouraged to wear the school uniform on a daily basis.  Students may wear white or baby blue shirts with navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers. Sneakers are preferred so that your child may fully participate in PE class and recess.

The first day of school for K0, K1, K2 – September 14
